Mighty Mites for a Mighty Mission

"How then can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are SENT?" Romans 10:14-15a (NIV)

The mite box ministry of LWML-Canada allows us, through our mites and our prayers, with God's blessing, to support others who go and tell the story of God's love and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

Make the Mission More Meaningful:

We can make district and national mission projects more personal and meaningful to each member by:

1. Appointing someone in our Society to be responsible for informing members and others of our mission goals.

2. At each meeting, study and pray for one or more projects:
·  Use the Mission Project Prayers supplied by Mission Projects Committee
·  Study the project proposals in the convention manual for more information on each project.
·  Use the District publications and Tapestry for updates on projects that have been paid.
·  Use the project posters, prominently displayed, to visually keep track of projects paid.
·  Use Mite Box devotions from the Program Planner.

3. Tell others in our congregation about our mission projects and about the work we do. Be visible.

Make Mite-Giving More Meaningful

1. Use the above ideas to inform and inspire people with the mission so our mite-giving will pour from the heart.

2. Prayerfully: - Thousands of mites -thousands of prayers - what power! Make our mite giving a thankoffering for all we have and enjoy. Pray for projects and God's Mission.

3. Regularly: Daily! Get into the habit each day of giving our mites and prayers. Make a daily commitment to the Lord. Could you commit the amount of a phone call a day - $0.35? A cup of coffee a day - $0.50 - $1.00? If we doubled our monthly mite box offering, would we miss the money? Think of what the Lord could do with that many mites!

4. Systematically: We must each develop our own system for mite box giving. Have several boxes in your home - on the kitchen cupboard, in the bedroom where hubby empties his pockets, in the laundry room, on the kitchen table... VISIBLE! And be ready at every opportunity to explain about the mite box mission.

5. Collectively: Children, grandchildren, husbands, grandparents can all be involved; not just LWML members but EVERYONE in the congregation can have a mite box. Give a mite box to a friend and tell the story of our mission and what our mites, with God's blessing, accomplish.

6. Monthly: It is so important to collect mite boxes regularly every month. Do this at your LWML meeting or at church service. Make a big Mite Box. BE VISIBLE! This mite box offering at church is a witness to others. Phone and remind people to bring their mite boxes. Offer to pick up mite boxes from friends or shut-ins (and then keep the person updated on the projects). Then be sure your society treasurer sends the mites in to the Zone Treasurer or District on a regular monthly basis.

God bless our mission and our mighty mites!
