SEMINARS
LWML–Canada also promotes spiritual growth by producing a seminar every three years for the benefit of all women of Lutheran Church–Canada. The seminar for 2011 is “Good Lord, What Do I Do? God’s direction – your decisions.”
Through art, drama and discussion participants examine some of the decisions required of us today, how God’s people approached decision-making, and what that has to say to our decision-making today. The seminar also examines how we can help others facing difficult decisions.
For $10 you can order the CD containing PDF files for the leader and participants, PR information, posters, etc. and a DVD to show during a break in the seminar. A seminar for anyone who plays a leadership role in the church was held October 26-30, 2011 at Star of the North Retreat Centre in St. Albert, Alberta.
This seminar, “Chosen Servants Shine Like Stars,” will be available for use about March 2012. It will be unlike any other seminar you have ever attended. Key to the whole experience will be speaker Dr. Mary Hilgendorf. Dr. Hilgendorf serves as Professor of Education and Ambassador to the Women’s Leadership Institute at Concordia University Wisconsin. Mary is a frequent speaker at women’s conferences and educational seminars. She is very enthusiastic about providing educational opportunities for women to grow in their unique gifts of leadership. Mary believes we can make a difference as we encourage and equip women for Christian leadership in service to Christ in the church and the world. Her topic will be: Esther Moments: Women’s Ways of Leading. Mary spoke in person at the original seminar and her presentation will be on DVD for coming seminars.
Often we picture a leader as someone who holds an elected position and many of us don’t see ourselves in that role. But leadership happens all over the place. For example, if you’re a mom, you’re a leader whenever you organize something within your family. How do you effectively serve as a servant leader to them?
