TOGETHER IN PRAYER

Woman prayingEach Monday at noon we invite you to join together to pray with Lutheran sisters in Christ. Use this prayer (new each week) or your own.

February 20

Dear Father, this week we start the Lenten season with Ash Wednesday. Be merciful to us and forgive all the many sins we have committed. So often, we think only of ourselves and our own good instead of putting our focus on You and Your word.

Unto Thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul: O my God I trust in Thee, let me not be ashamed.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Some Tips: You might want to include a calendar in each month’s congregational newsletter for the benefit of all. Another suggestion: print a prayer calendar on one side and the month’s suggestions from “A Year’s Worth of Empowering Women in Mission and Service” or “Program Ideas for Women’s Groups,” both available from the LWML–Canada Resource Centre.

ONLINE PRAYER REQUESTS

During the last few years LWML-Canada Update has been used to share with our members, requests for prayer. These prayer requests have included only LWMLC personnel who are serving, or have served, on the national level because many members across Canada know these women and pastors who are or have served them. Because we want to be accurate as well as respect the privacy of those for whom we pray, we have established a set of guidelines for your use.
Prayer requests will be posted here.

PRAYER REQUEST
Please keep Pat Geick and her family in your prayers. Pat served as president of the Laurentian District and is presently chairman of the LWMLC Nominating Committee. Her mother, Norma Bertha Davis (nee Sallach), died early January 8, 2012, in her 91st year. Pat’s nephew, Rev. Chris Davis, serving in Federal Way, Washington collapsed on Boxing day and had brain surgery on December 30.He is now feeding himself, unable to speak, but can still sing. Pat says, “we praise God for His strength, and ask for complete recovery as God is the healer of all diseases.”

UPDATE:    Please continue to keep Pat and Wayne Geick in your prayers. Pastor Wayne had a heart attach while in Pittsburgh attending his mother-in-law’s funeral. Emergency surgery resulted in a stent and he is now back home recovering. Pat says: “God has blessed us once again. Prayers are most welcomed for the whole family. Wayne will be off work for a month. To God Be the Glory as He knows all of our needs!

PRAYER REQUEST
Please pray for Val Lowther (a member of the Communication Committee) and her husband, Glenn. She shares the following: we would welcome the prayers of our faithful sisters and brothers. The bile duct cancer Glenn had last year has re-occurred and the oncologist at the cancer agency told us yesterday that Glenn is not a candidate for chemotherapy and the prognosis is poor. Last year our gracious Lord gave Glenn and I the opportunity to spend a remarkable summer together including travel to the U.S. and two weeks in an RV. It was certainly bonus time. We trust in our God’s plan for us and Glenn will be with his Saviour in God’s time.

“I give You thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing Your praise; I bow down toward Your holy temple and give thanks to Your name for Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness, for You have exalted above all things Your name and Your word. On the day I called, You answered me; my strength of soul You increased.” Psalm 138:1-3
