Seminarians learn about LWML-Canada
Each year the vicars from each seminary are invited to dinner to learn more about LWML-Canada from the president or her representative. President Judy Grande attended both dinners this year. Dinner for CLTS vicars and their families was held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Stevensville, Ontario, on March 26, 2010. Dinner for CLS vicars and families was at Bethel Lutheran Church, Sherwood Park, Alberta on April 9, 2010. Visit LWMLC News for more information.

Seminar will focus on growing leaders
Work has begun on a seminar for leaders to take place in 2011. Planning committee members Doreen Dotzler, Shirley Fast, Pauline Huth and Linda Ritaller met at Zion Lutheran, Surrey, B.C., with League president, Judy Grande January 14-16, 2010. "Chosen Servants…Shine Like Stars" based on Isaiah 41:9b-10 was chosen as the theme. The purpose of the seminar is to equip and encourage women to be comfortable and competent in using their God-given gifts so they lead in the way God has called them.

Seminar to provide help in making God-pleasing decisions
LWML-Canada has also begun planning a second seminar to be available in 2011, titled "Good Lord, What Do I Do?" and subtitled "God's Direction - Your Decisions." Planning committee members Sandra Schaeffer (chair), Sharon Kentner, Patti Kreutzweiser and Gail Mitchell have chosen the scripture passage Proverbs 3:5-6 as the basis for the seminar. The purpose is that through God's Word women are empowered for God-pleasing decision making, enabled to trust God in all circumstances and equipped to support others.

Lutheran women on Facebook
At their General Council meeting this month, one of the decisions made was to initiate meaningful conversation with women by establishing a presence on Facebook. An invitation was issued to women of LCC who would be interested in helping touch the lives of women with God's love through Facebook. Several responses have been received. Additional help would be welcome. Many hands make light work. Send Marion Hollinger an e-mail (vpcommunication@lutheranwomen.ca). The potential is only limited by the size of the Internet! Thanks for considering it.

LWML-Canada convention: date, theme, location set
The General Council of LWML-Canada has chosen "Hold fast to the Word," based on 1 Corinthians 15:2, as the theme of their convention to be held July 5-8, 2012 in Kelowna, B.C.
